Peace Dove

This seemed like a good Christmas in July card for a Sunday.  I'm kinda glad I didn't get around to posting these past few card until now.  It has been fun to look back at these Christmas cards and get a little excited about making new ones! The woodgrain washi is my ALL TIME FAV.  It goes with everything- I think I need to stock up!!! The washi came as part of a monthly kit club I joined locally.

I'm getting together with the local gals this week, so I better get something done to share!  It isn't a requirement or anything, but gosh it is nice to get real time feedback from crafty friends. ;-) It's also soooo inspiring to see everything everyone else made.  I always come back from those gatherings (when I can get to them) totally energized for creativity.  It doesn't hurt that I leave with new goodies to use while exploring that creativity.

I was moved by a post on Monday by Duni at Duni's Studio.  She posts Monday Moodboard's that are always creative eye candy.  You really must stop by and check her out!  This past Monday she posted a beautiful Cheyenne Prayer that I haven't heard in a while.  Seems appropriate for this post so I will share it as well.
Let us know peace.
For as long as the moon shall rise,
For as long as the rivers shall flow,
For as long as the sun shall shine,
For as long as the grass shall grow,
Let us know peace.

Have a soothingly simple Sunday. Peace and love be with you today.

Red Sleigh

Morning!  Today I have another Christmas in July, from my Christmas cards I made last year, to share.  This one is going for a very retro-ish look.  All aqua and red (which I HATED as a kid) and early 60's atomic style printed paper.

This one gets a little nod to the present day with some washi and chipboard.  The format for this card is basically the same one I used here.  When I find a LO I like I tend to use it a bunch! ;-)

Looking at all these Christmas cards from last year has certainly helped me keep cool in the hot weather we have had lately.  I'm hoping it will inspire me to get a few made for this year.  I have some new goodies on the way that are due on Friday.  Maybe the combo of these cards and those goodies will get me in action.  I "taped" (do we even say that anymore???) some Christmas movies on Hallmark last week that I may watch on my iPad while I craft to get me in the mood too. LOL!

If I get any done, I will try to get them posted before this Christmas!!!

Have a Whimsical Wednesday!

Feather Tree

Caught my breath long enough to get some more of my cards of Christmas past ready to share. ;-)  This one is another favorite because of that awesome paper and the chipboard feather tree.  Eeek! I just adore them!!!!

I'm going to be trolling eBay for this paper at some point.  It is just so pretty and I am down to something like a 2x2 square of lusciousness in my stash.  The sequins are ancient and I used them with a tree stamp I got when my LSS was open and used to run a year long Christmas card class.  We made 5-6 cards each month, in two styles, using one stamp that you got to keep.  Gosh I miss that class.  I had all my cards ready by Thanksgiving!!!!

A crafty friend came over last week and we shared lots of goodies with each other.  I didn't get a single thing finished, so today I'm gonna sit down and finish some projects!  That and get ready for tutoring tomorrow.  Oh and get some new stuff added to my Etsy shop.  Guess I better get going and get something done!

Have a great Monday!

Cool Thanks on a Hot Day

How 'bout some cold weather cards to help you cool off today? ;-)  This is a set I sold in my Etsy shop this past winter/spring.  Never too early to stock up on gifts...

I'm working on more sets like these.  They were blank inside so they could be used for whatever you'd like.  The cards all used Papertrey Ink stamps and dies and the box used a stamp from Unity.

I'm pretty sure the papers are all from a Kti Club I used to belong to years ago.  Periodically I like to challenge myself to see how many cards/creations I can make using mostly just goods from a kit club kit.  Some kits lend themselves more than others for sure!

Well, thanks for stopping by!  Hope you are staying cool today, or at least at the beach!  I, myself, am off to tutor some former first graders before they head to camp for the day.  Keep your fingers crossed that we can all wake up enough to get anything done at this early hour!!!

Green Ornaments

Oooo, another couple cards from the past!  Happy Christmas in July!

These are two more ornament themed cards that I made last December. Gosh these cards just make me smile.

I thought these were such ugly ornaments when I was a kid!  Isn't funny how time can change your opinion on some things?  Now I spend time (and stupid amount of money!) looking for ornaments that look like these!

Gosh, I really need to look online to see if somebody has dug this out of the waaaay back of their warehouse to sell.  I'm gonna miss this paper!!!

What has been your favorite line from Christmas past?

Red Ornaments

Happy Christmas in July!  I never got around to posting these last December, but that's okay because I can share them with you for Christmas in July. ;-)

This is one of my all time favorite lines.  The ornament paper was soooo hard to use because it was all I had left.  Alas, I'm so happy to see how these cards turned out.  It was good to use this paper.  Totally worth it.

There isn't a thing I don't love about these cards.  The vintage vibe, the lovely colors, the chipboard ornaments-- eeeek!  Just love 'em!

Be sure to stop by again.  I have more cards using this luscious line from the past.

Celebrate Banner

Sharing another oldie today, but it is so appropriate for the week!  It has been a very successful few days here.  I've managed to get quite a few valentine kits ready for this winter, I started tutoring (at a ridiculously early time) and the kiddos were great, and....drumroll......................................................... Cida and I passed the Therapy Dog test!!!! Whaaaaahoooooo!

This banner has me, once again, jonesing for some sassy nautical paper.  Nautical stuff is so yummy! I'm trying very hard to resist getting some new paper until I finish a few more projects.  There's no room for any new stuff!!!!  Of course I could always order the paper now and stash it until I'm finished with my projects.  But then there is the risk of never finding the stashed paper.  Ya know, 'cause by the time I actually get those projects finished I will have forgotten where I hid the paper!

For this "celebrate" banner, the base is cardboard coasters covered in lots of different patterned papers.  I ended up with a huge stack of these oval coasters and for some reason they just screamed banners to me.  It was a bit of a learning curve with that though.  The holes to string them together have to be a little more than halfway up, otherwise they might flip and then you have celbte instead! ;-) The layers used PTI dies and the letters are stickers that were part of the ancient (seriously like 8 years ago or something) paper line.

Going to load this banner into the shop this weekend.  Make sure to stop by and check out the new goodies!

More Crayon-y Thanks

How's your day going?  I'm off to ME to clean our cottage for some new renters.  Before I head out, I thought I'd share another crayon inspired Thank You card.

Went a little bold with the crayons this time.  Not sure I love the red crayon.  I think if I were to do this again I might pick a different shade of red.  I feel like it stands out too much.  Perhaps an apple that was more red instead of the green?

After looking at this, I'm inspired to make more of these.  The weather in the mornings has been lovely enough- maybe I'll color outside!

Have a Happy Wednesday!

Sweet Love

Look at me blogging two times in one week! Who woulda thunk!!! ;-)   Today I'm sharing a pair of cards I made using scraps 'n rejects from my pie cards

I'm such a paper hoarder!  When I cut papers that just don't work, I end up tossing them the scrap pile, which I swear just grows and grows while I sleep.  *wink*  The pile is a benefit though.  When I have a few minutes, when I need to make something quick, or I just feel like I must be able to create one card to feel like I did SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE with my day, I can dip into the pile and whip up something cute.

I had the twine laying on my studio table (being lazy wins again!) and the washi tape was added because the card was screaming for some warm yellow to cheer up the cool blues and greens.  The "sweet" and "love" were from the Kit Club I'm in right now.  I figure these are good for valentines, anniversary, birthday, or a plain old "I love you card for no reason other than I love you and wanted to give you a card" card.  Don't underestimate the power of those "I love you just because" cards.  They really can make someone's day!

Whatcha' doin' to make someone's day today?  To make your own day?  I'm gonna putter in my garden in a bit.  There are a couple areas that look like they need some love this morning.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Thank You for a Great Year!

Today is the first weekday day of my summer break.  It was a pretty good year!  Lots of ups and downs, which is typical, and new friendships made.  My work "roommate" and I went through several interesting "roommates" before we got an awesome one!  We are so happy to have her joining our room again next year!!!  I also got a chance to get to know three new teachers.  Oh my goodness, I forgot how much energy I had when I was that young. ;-)  Happily their enthusiasm is contagious and they helped this old dog learn some new tricks!

Thinking about how thankful I am for this past year, these seemed like some perfect cards to share today.  If you follow me on Instagram, you had a peek when I shared these during Teacher Appreciation Week.  The trio at the top are cards I made for an Etsy customer.  The only thing more fun than using crayons is coloring them!

The image is from Unity, the apple die cut is from Papertrey Ink, buttons are most likely My Favorite Things (but could also be Papertrey Ink), the twines are Twinery via a gal on Etsy, doilies are from the sale bin at Michael's, the sequins are from Taylored Expressions, and the papers are from my stash (either I bought off Paper Issues or got in my local kit club).  The copics I used were ones I pulled to match the papers in front of me.

Since I make WAAAAAAY more cards than scrapbook pages, I have lots of scrapbook-y stickers leftover from the Kit Club where I'm a member.  It occurred to me I could use these to stamp messages like "thank you" (Amuse).  Quite a lightbulb moment there, huh. ;-P  The image is My Favorite Things and I'm pretty sure I haven't ever actually colored this image.  I always seem to just outline this image with a coordinating color instead.  I just love how it pops!!!

Lots planned for this summer!  I'm tutoring 3 (maybe 4) kiddos, 3 trips are planned (2 to ME and 1 to The Cape), a Therapy Dog test (which we will likely fail next Tuesday, but its ok.  We can take it again), a possible class, lots of work on my Etsy shop (goodies to add and some great ideas on stuff to create!), a LONG outstanding project to finish for a friend, and oodles of reading.  A pretty tame summer this year and I am thrilled.  I'm going to need it!  I know what I have going on this autumn already and it will be quite jam packed!!!!

How 'bout you? Any big plans? Any little plans?

May all your plans come to fruition!  After all YOLO!!!

Flag Day

Thought I'd pop by to wish a Happy Flag Day to everyone today!  It is a pretty big deal at my school.  The kiddos have spent all year practicing all kinds of patriotic songs to sing at our Flag Day gathering.  Everyone wears red, white, and blue or course.  The kids are so cute in their outfits!!! Some of the parents get dressed up for it too. I have a special boa that I wear along with red/white/blue glitter eyelashes. I was interviewed one year for the town's cable access channel because of my super getup!

There are a couple of teachers that wear giant sequined Uncle Sam hats and one who wears a red/white/blue sequined tu-tu.  It is quite a sight to see the parade of flags around the Town Common after we sing and various classes put on their presentations!

Don't forget to hang your flag out today!  If you live in the Metro-West area of Boston and travel on 495, be on the lookout for the wacky gal in the silver Tiguan wearing a huge patriotic feather boa. ;-)

Thermos'

Last Thursday I shared a Throwback Thursday card and I thought I'd do the same thing again this week!  A couple months back I did some much needed cleaning of my studio and found these cards.  I had made them after a completely different (and still oh so needed) studio cleaning when I came across the leftover parts from a class I ran at my previous church.

I had forgotten that I even had this set of stamps!  I'm soooo digging them out from my stash.  Maybe blues/greens or yellow/blues this time. Maybe I'll quiz my guy friends for their favorite color.  Nah, I'll ask my nephews.  They have a laundry list of color combos!  We have had extensive conversations about favorite colors, color choices, what are good colors for certain things.  They really are naturals at color theory!  I bet they will have lots to offer to this conversation. ;-)

What color combo is speaking to you right now?  Have you used this set?  Send me a link or tag me on Instagram (@fuzzyslippersdesigns) so I can see what you created!  I need the inspiration!!!

Father's Day Throwback

Thought I'd share a Throwback Thursday of sorts today!  I made this trifold AGES ago and realized I don't think I ever shared it here.  I've been crushing on all things nautical for a bit now.  Can't believe that bug has bitten me!  I used to just completely ignore nautical goods, but now I totally gravitate towards them.

Man I made oodles of these trifold cards back in the day.  I think I should play around with them again though.  They are lovely and make it so easy to use the great big sentiments for a focal point (and then you don't have to worry about an inside sentiment).

As usual, I can't remember the stamp company these images came from.  I had borrowed the set from my crafty friend, so if you really want to know- ask and I can ask my friend if she still has them. :-)

Have a great Thursday!

Anchors of Thanks

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  I have a nautical/Americana inspired card to share with you today.  It went into another variety pack of cards for an Etsy customer.  I had made a TON of different cards using these papers and was excited to whip out what was left to make a this.

This time of the year I really feel the pull of all things nautical.  I think it is because we begin spending more time up near the coast of Maine, weather starts getting nicer, and we can spend time walking on the beach and along the trails at the nearby pond (which seems like a small lake to me- what qualifies a pond vs. a lake??)

How 'bout you? What inspires you this time of the year?

Bouquets Revisited

All this week I have been posting projects that used a daisies & roses bouquet from Lockhart stamps.  Today I'm posting links to all of this weeks posts ALONG with all the posts I found using this stamps from all the way back to the beginning of this blog!  Enjoy! :)
