Silver, White, and...

It's TUESDAY and it has been quite a while since I have been able to join my teamies in sharing a Top Tip Tuesday Challenge.  Gosh I am glad November is over.  I always forget just how crazy it is with conferences and Thanksgiving- then top it off this year with the power outage from the storm U-G-H!  Can't complain too much though.  My DH's family helped deck our halls this weekend (the house looks A-Maz-Ing) and I have only one more conference (first time in 10 years that I will be done as early as Dec 7th!!!!- hope I didn't just jinx myself!)  Anywho- on to the challenge!!!
This week your challenge is a color challenge.  Silver, white, and a hint of... well you get to choose your color hint.  I dug out a wicked old kit club set (seriously I think it is from Dec 09) and it had silver paper.  Yahooey!  I made a ton of stuff yesterday, these tags fit the bill though. :)
My hint has two colors ice aqua and poinsettia red.  Luscious!!!  Makes me think of a fancy cocktail party from the 40's and 50's.  I couldn't help adding a little more bling with the silver tinsel for tag ties. :)

So you should totally head over to TTT and join the fun!  Deneen has a fabulous ornament malking tutorial and you could win a $10 GC to Inky Impressions or 3 free digis from Digital Delights.

Happy Tuesday!

Guest Posting Some Tea

Greetings!  The fam helped to get the house all decorated yesterday so DH and I are off to the Festival of Trees in Metheun to get even more ideas.  LOL!  In the meantime, please head over to my blogland friend Bella of Bella Before and After where I am a guest blogger today.  You'll see more of these cool teapots and what I created with them..   :)

Hiya Rudy

Today the family is coming over to help get the house decorated for Christmas.  No I'm not one of those crazy Christmas-in-your-face folks.  I love Halloween more than Christmas, but since family is in town, we have a wonderful long weekend, and we host DH's work peeps holiday party the first Sunday in December- we could use all the help to decorate we can get. :)
Anywho, I thought I'd share a mini book I made when we lost power a couple weeks ago.  Great thing about crafting, most things can be crafted made without power. :)  I'm on a big red, white, and kraft kick this year.
'Cause this is a mini book (4" X 4"), some of the pages have added pockets for doubled siding pictures or extra space for writing down those memories.  This one already went home with one of my coworkers. :)  She wants to put pictures in of her lil' boy's first Christmas.
I hope she brings it in with pictures so I can see what it looks like filled. :)
Making mini books are relaxing for me, but I don't often get to see what they look like with all the pictures in them. :(
Yup I really have posted shots of all the innards.  Thanks to you for looking/reading this uber long post!  I really should add some kinda "Where's Waldo" prize announcement in one of these. LOL!
Well this is an embarrassing shot.  Paper lint on the velvet paper!  Hopefully I took care of that before my coworker bought this album!!
You'd think with my recent red and white obsession I would be a huge peppermint fan. Nope, not really.  DH and DSIL are big peppermint ice cream fiends though. :)
The very last page has a fun flap.  Again, since this is a mini having flaps and tags give just a little more space for journal writing or pictures.  The "extra" space also adds a fun surprise element too. :)

Hope you enjoyed this little book and stop by tomorrow to see what/where I am guest blogging!!!!! :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!  I thought I would share the placecards I made for our family gathering.  I make the dessert 'cause tomorrow we host everyone at our place for the annual Christmas decorating party.  So it's pretty easy for me to make some fun table do-dads. :)
Here's the whole spread.  I used PTI dies for the banner base and the pint jars.  I'm on a jar kick this year.  Dessert is even in jars!  I made personal pecan pies in the short half pint jars and personal cakes in the tall half pint jars this year.  Just in case they turned out yucky when we finally get to eat them I bought ice cream and some luscious cookies from the bakery.  One must always be prepared for the sweet stuff!!! :)
The banner background is actually a Memory Box card base that I ran through my Cuttlebug using the large banner die.  It gives them a fun edge and allows the placecards to open so they can rest on the plate.
The stamps and some of the papers are from PTI.  The doily is one of those cake decorating doilies you can get at the craft store.  Each card is stamped with a different sentiment so that none of them is exactly alike.  That way everyone has something special. :)
An MFT die was used to die cut the kraft cardstock mat.  Anyone else gettin' hungry?!?  I know I am!  We're also wicked excited to see everyone and Cad is coming to Thanksgiving this year to show off his new skills as an independently walking dog.  We are so thankful for all the support he's been getting since July and are happy to say that he can walk to the mailbox on a leash with no help- it's not as graceful as before the disc rupture, but gosh he is making some awesome progress!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Birthday Time

Those pictures from Buchart were kinda inspiring for me this week.  Here's a little card I put together using lots of chipboard layers.
The best part of the chipboard is that it was adhesive backed so it made it wicked easy to put together.  The vine at the bottom is a sticker!  It needed a little bling though, so I added some Stickles to the flower. :)
I made the tag and stamped a sentiment from MFT.  Believe it or not, this actually fits in a standard size envelope!

I've framed this art and headed here to show it off:

Not Dead

I'm not dead.  Seriously.  It's been a week!!!!  We had a freak October Nor'easter, which unless you live outside the US you heard all about.  Massive power outages.  We were out for like 3 days, which is nothing on some of my friends who were out a week.  Between that and parent conferences starting, I had no time to post.  I made a bunch of stuff, but no time to take pics either.  Soooo, I decided to share some pretty pics from Butchart Gardens in Victoria.
We were there three summers ago and it was stunning.  DH had been there years before and told me I would love it- he was so right!!!
We were in Seattle and took the ferry over for the day.  It takes at least a full day to see everything.  Nooks, crannies, secret gardens, and plant galore.
I figure it will be a while before I see any of this kinda nature IRL.  Looking through all the pics of the trip was a nice trip on its own! :)
I adore plants.  I can grow most anything thanks to my mom and my dad's mom.  I can't get sweet peas to do squat for me though. :(  I'm in awe of anyone who can make sweet peas do anything that resembles this pic- well that and decent tomatoes.  The tomatoes aren't my fault though.  We have a fierce chipmunk population (think Hitchcock's Birds movie).

Hope these pics make you smile!  If I get my act together, you should get to see some fun projects in the next coupla days. :)
