Mom & Me

I have a surprise for you today.  I actually used a picture in one of my projects!!!  If you have been hanging out here in the fuzzy slipper zone for long, you'll have noticed I tend to make things for others to adorn with their photos.  This time one of mine made it. :)
Before you get to see the project, I wanted to show you the kit.  This one is the April Kit Club kit.  Most of the May kit has been used, but fear not more bit 'n pieces will make an appearance soon.  I know y'all are just on pins and needles. LOL!  In this kit, Mary gave us goodies from the Basic Grey pb&j line.  The cards weren't part of the kit, but they are there to inspire me to get my thank you cards made so I'm ready for the last day of school.  Only 6 more wake-ups left in this school year.  It's panic time!!!!  I'm not ready!!!!!
So I procrastinated tried to inspire myself this past Friday and joined some gals at the Craft In at my LSS.  Here is the first creation I completed and I ran around the store showing anyone who would look because I made something for me.  With a picture.  That I'm keeping.  LOL!  The shadowbox is from 7 gypsies and I'm hooked on how easy/quick/fun this is to embellish.  This picture has been on my "must use" list for about a year.  I found it in one of the copy paper boxes that are holding all the pictures from when we cleaned out Mom's house.
I adore this shot of us.  Mom read to me all the time as a kid, but not stories.  She read me poems from Ideals, nursery rhymes, and song lyrics.  She was so ahead of her time.  More and more research is showing how those types of text are crucial for early literacy development.  That was my mom- a trendsetter. :)  You may have noticed that I didn't crop the picture.  I couldn't.  Mom wrote the date of this picture on the back way at the top.  The picture is foam taped in different spots so you can still peek at her handwriting.  She had gorgeous handwriting, like a movie star or something.

Enjoy your Monday and enjoy reading with someone special this week!

More Calorie Free Goodies

Another goodie that's even better 'cause there are no calories and it is so yummy to look at!!!!
I've seen these before and probably pinned this idea on one of my boards, but recently the gals at Paper Made Bakery did a tut on making these paper fortune cookies.  There were still scraps left from the May Kit I got at my LSS.  Ya know the one I have been boring y'all with all week. ;)
Patience is not one of my best used virtues- despite any rumors to the contrary. LOL!  So instead of printing the sayings, I went old school and wrote them.  By hand.  With a regular pen.  I know, I know, so sad.  No fancy font, no fancy ink.
But then I was thinking that these are better with handwritten notes.  More of a personal touch- well that's the story I'm sticking with now. LOL!  Wouldn't these be great for a teacher to get from a student?   A friend is going to try this for her dad's 70th and have everyone write a note to put into a "cookie".  So sweet!

Still have a bit left from the kit, but I may move on to the April Kit.  Got a couple ideas poking at me and I gotta get to getting before I forget what the great ideas are!!! :)

It's Happy Day!

All your wonderful comments about my last post have made me smile so much!  So between that and having the sun come out for about 30 nano seconds has really made for a happy day for me.
If you guessed that this banner used goodies from this kit- you are totally correct!  I had an itching to make a banner (like this one) but didn't have a special occasion in mind.
I thought about a summer one or birthday- then I thought how this paper makes me so happy.  So "Happy Day" it was! :)
The window box sticker, the flowers, and the letters with embellished with Stickles.  As if I could have walked away from adding some bling. :) The letters and flowers were cut on my Cricut.
The base of each part is an oval coaster.  I got a whole mega bunch of them at Job Lots for like $2 or something last summer.  They give the whole piece just a little more weight and they are fun to decorate!

Hope you had a fun day today!

Summer Memories Mini

I am just swooning over these papers! Got another mini for y'all this time. :)  Such a sweet little pocket memory keeper!
Can't remember who the mini base is made by, so if any of you know please share it in the comments.  It was in the stash and was begging for some dressing. :)
Can't you see some school pictures from school buddies or summer cookout shots of the grandkids?
Maybe July 4th party pics?
Actually now that I think about it, I have a girlfriend who is having a quiet wedding around the 4th.  This might be a fun way to capture some of their pre-wedding fun. :)
Ooo, strawberry picking!  My DH loves when I mention strawberry picking.  He went with my Mom and I once.  We still laugh.  He didn't know that most of the fun comes from chatting and nibbling.  The man went to town and probably picked about 10 POUNDS of strawberries.  We were eating strawberry flavored everything for ages- and he doesn't even like strawberries!!!! LOL!
These are just sooooo yummy!  I can't stand it!!!!! :)
Maybe shots of all the blooms in the garden this summer- or summer sunsets- ooo or beach party fun!
Pocket of posies on the back. Aaacccckkkk- such a cute line.  I'm not usually a sticker gal, but these are the bees knees. :)

Hope you enjoyed this lil' album.  May you have a creative and inspiring week!

I've pocketed this album and I'm off to these fun cookouts:

Easy Breezy

I carved out some much needed crafty time and have a fun album to share with y'all!  The papers are all from the May Kit Club kit shown at the bottom of this post.
Remember those strawberries?  I added one to this album.  I got into putting lots of texture on the cover with this one. The "denim" strip is a leftover from the 12x12 page.  Felt like a seamstress hemming pants on jeans.  :)
The vision on the pages was for the green paper to be the mat for pics and the dp cards for writing.
The kit came with oodles of stickers.  Some of them looked like washi tape, but I also added some green washi and red washi from Amuse.
The album is 7 Gypsies.  I didn't use all the pages.  A couple of the pages were just not doing it for me shape-wise so they got cut from the roster. :)
Usually the albums I make are not more than 6x6, so this 8ishx8ish album was a "super size" one for me.  Too much pressure for pictures or writing, so I reduced the stress by using the postcard size journaling cards as a focal and a filler.
Were got a set of library pockets too!  I made a couple of tags for the pockets that can either be used as picture mats, a mount for dried buttercups, strawberry-picking-stained-fingerprint records,  mud-pie receipts or plain old journaling.
Oh my these papers are sooo much fun to play with- I had enough leftover to make 2 more little projects.  As soon as all the detail work is finished on those other projects I get pics taken and post to share with y'all! :)

 Hugs and Happy Thursday,

Finally back

Well it has been a long time since I posted.  Life kinda got in the way of blogging *gasp*.  Long story short some family had a complicated surgery and some shifts in scheduling at work for next year have made crafting/blogging take a back seat.  Things look to be on a positive/settled track right now and I took my personal day last Wednesday to hang with an uber talented group of gals who helped me find my mojo again!

The gals I got to hang with are the Kit Club gals.  I've never made it to a meeting in person, but I know most of them either because I have taken classes from them or with them. :)  I managed to remember to take a few shots of some of their creations to share.  Hopefully I have given credit to the right gals for these layouts!
Kathy is one of the new gals and I just adore this layout!  All that stitching and the freehand circles give this LO such a family feel. :)
Katie modified a BG kit to have a LO ready for pictures.  Inserts photos and go! :)
Mary-Ann caught the cutest shot of her two furry friends for the layout.  Love the classic look to this LO. :)
I'm pretty sure this was Christine's layout.  Corner is her son's favorite stuffy and this layout truly captures just how much Corner is loved. :)
This is the kit we got on Wednesday.  Most of the paper is Simple Stories Summer Fresh.  The pockets, some kraft and grass green cardstock, and a thick rope twine-I forgot to include in the picture- were also part of the kit.  The card bases were ones I had gotten on sale for another project that I had thought might work with this kit.  I did manage to get an album mostly completed to show later this week- and no I haven't forgotten that y'all want to see what I did with those strawberries.
I feel sad that I have been away from blogland for so long, which is good fro all of you!  Stop by tomorrow for a GIVEAWAY!!!!

Hugs and inspiration,
