Dreary Day

It's been kinda dreary here the last couple of days.  It's a sign that I need to get my act together to create some festive goodies!  Yesterday my Get Well card tutorial was posted at The Hens Den.  Please stop by to check it out and while you are there, don't forget to link up a project-any project from this month- to the gallery.  You could win $10 to the store (which would be an awesome way to get that album you've had your eye on!!!).

So many of my friends have gotten a cold and it's soooo early in the season for peeps to be ill already!  I'm not prepared with any cards to give them to help them smile!!!!!  Also, I haven't stocked up all on the meds I'll need when I catch what they have. LOL!

If the weather is yucky take advantage of National Museum Day today.  If your weather is nice it is also National Parks Day instead. Can't fit it in today?  There are several NPD's during the year.  Click on the link to find other dates and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Halloween- Getting Ready!

Halloween is such a fun day to decorate for and celebrate.  A chance to see neighbors (and the kiddos), great excuse to eat candy, opportunity to play dress up/ dream up creative costumes, and to test your fears with "scary" decorations.  It's also the time to create cards with wacky color schemes (at least wacky for me!).  I got some great goodies I had ordered from MFT this past week and HAD to use them- they were burning a hole in my pocket ya know. :)
I shopped my stash for most of the goods, so I don't know where the spiderweb paper or the blue night sky paper is from (some paper pad from ages ago is all I can tell ya).  The card base is
jack o' lantern (Memory Box), the green dot is distressed key lime (Memory Box), the sentiment is Amuse, the jack o' lantern is a die (MFT), and the felt is Orange Fizz (MFT).
I've been so inspired by the cards, decorations, and costumes posted in Blogland the last couple of weeks!  What has been your favorite discovery?  Please share, 'cause I LOVE blog stalking inspiration. LOL!

I've carved this little guy and set him out here:
Catered Crop- Knot now
Ribbon Carousel- Fall into Fall
PaperPlay- Choose a Holiday
DL.ART- Halloween/Fall colors

Falling for this

Ahhh, there is nothing as nice as breaking bread with family!  A few weeks back we had the chance to host my DH's aunt and cousin.  It was fun to get together and break out some pretty dishes.  A great chance to capture a TABLESCAPE! :)
The glasses are from a thrift place around the corner.  They had displayed a huge basket full of different red glassware.  After inheriting a bunch of gorgeous Morgantown glasses, I'm addicted to red glass. ;)  Couldn't pass up the basket- those beauties needed a home!
It was really warm the day they came by or we would have sat outside.  The flowers 'n healthy snacks came from an organic farm next door to my neighborhood.  Mmmm and yum!  When they arrived we broke out all the goodies they brought and other stuff we had- we enjoyed seeing each other so much I forgot to take more pictures!!!  Oh well.

The plates are ones we picked up on sale years ago at Crate and Barrel.  We never remember to use them!  I'm so glad we pulled them out for our get together. :)
The flowers smelled sooo good!  Best to enjoy them now.  Who knows how much longer 'til Jack Frost comes to take them away...

Seasons and Seafood

Oooo, I just know the season of lobster rolls is coming to an end!  I LOVE LOBSTER.  On a roll, in a shell, in mac 'n cheese, as a potato skin topping, in chowder- you name it and I'll eat it. :)  Now I must brace myself to fall back on my love of shrimp.  With cocktail sauce.  The kind with TONS of horseradish sauce.  Ya know so you have that sinus reaction a few seconds after eating it.  Some folks can't get enough jalapenos, me I'll stick to horseradish sauce.  And pepto bismal tablets.  LOL!
I've seen the leaves changing already here in New England.  They are already much prettier than I had hoped given the drought this winter & summer.  I feel bad for folks on leaf peeping trips this year though.  The trees put on a much more glorious fashion show when they have had lots of water.
I've been cleaning again- or still?- anyway, this are bits 'n pieces from my other projects.  The color combo makes me think of summer and of fall which seems very appropriate for a day like today.  Sunny, a little warm, and a crisp breeze to remind you of the changing season.  There are times when I'm sad for the change of the season, but then I think "would I enjoy them as much if they never changed?"

What do you like best about fall?  What do you like least? (I bet it is raking!)

Deets (kinda):
Stamp- Lori's Lil' Shrimp/Fred Mullet
Card Base- Kraft/Memory Box
Zigzag paper- White Bread (back side)/Basic Grey
Ink- Twinkling H2O's(applied directly to the stamp)

Happy New Year to all my friends celebrating Rosh Hashanah!  May you all have a sweet and wonderful New Year!

Hydrangea Happiness

Okay, okay I know you are thinking "Seriously Moriah?  ANOTHER hydrangea card?!?!?"  What can I say?  I get OCD when I find something I like. :)  This time I have a *gasp* BLUE hydrangea!  Shocking to all of you who know blue isn't my favorite color, but I have to say it may be growing on me.
This is one of the images I was coloring back when my DH and DFIL were working on the garden path.  My DMIL and I were streaming my soon-to-be cousin-in-law's radio show on WYEP out of Pittsburgh.  Gotta love technology for that.  It was so cool to listen to her talking about the day in Pitt while we were enjoying our day in MA. :)

So do you want deets on how I made this card and links to where you can get some of the goods?  You do?  Fantastic!  Head over to The Hens Den and you can check out my tut. ;)

Happy Friday!

Just My Type & Teaser

Happy Saturday!  Today is my gram's birthday.  I figure I can mention that her gift came from when DH and I went to the Stonewall Kitchen flagship store in Maine last weekend.  We had fun putting a goodie bag together for her. :)  When I mentioned to the cashier that it was all for my gram's birthday she said "Oh, Do you have 10 minutes?  Wait here and I'll make it all pretty for you!"  My goodness!  I wish I had taken a picture before I mailed it.  She bagged it all up and had ribbons 'n pretty stuffing.  It really was so wonderful of her!
School has started and I keep telling myself I should be creating fall-ish cards, but I've a total mess goodies in parts in my workspace begging to be finished!
This was one of those begging for a finish. :)  One down and a bazillion to go! LOL!
Now, here's the teaser.  Over at The Hen's Den we're having a sketch off today.  You have to guess who made which project based on the sketch.  One is mine and hopefully the peek above will help you to decide...

Good Luck!

Cheer over drear

Oh it is a rainy one here today folks!  I feel bad for the kiddos starting school today.  It's hard enough to go that first day, but with rain it just seems sadder.  Before I left for Alaska- and boy does that seem like a lifetime ago already!!!- I made this cheerful bouquet from some scraps.
I thought this would make a nice birthday card.  No idea who it might go to yet.  There are a TON of birthdays in my family the next couple months.  Every September I vow to be better about sending cards that aren't belated birthday cards in the next 12 months.  Maybe this will be the year?
How 'bout you?  Do you make any "resolutions" when the leaves start to change and the kids head to school?
