Sneezy Wheezy

Well folks, I've finally been bitten by the cold bug.  And here I was just the other day thinking how great it was that I hadn't gotten sick yet in spite of the vicious bugs going around my school!  I'm currently surrounded by various forms of tissues, teas, and over-the-counter cold remedies, so I thought I might share some shots of my first attempt at a birds nest necklace. :)
My buddy Fitz is modeling this attempt at some neck beauty.  Pretty, but less tasty than the other birds nests I have made. LOL!
My technique needs a little tweaking for sure, but really these are so much fun to make.  I see some Christmas gifts in the making!!!

Any advice for making a cold go away faster?!?!?!?!  Take pity on my poor husband and help him out. He's a easy patient, but I'm such a baby when I am sick. :(

Uncle! Uncle! Uncle!

We got ANOTHER snowstorm overnight.  Another 12 or so inches.  Seriously.  I said I like snow, but this is ridiculous.
What you say?  You want a closer view of the total?  You are in luck!
The thing is, this is the backyard total on the deck.  The deck that gets sun all day.  So really there's more snow on the ground out front where the sun hasn't melted anything yet.  Emphasis on the yet.  I really am starting to wonder where all the "melted snow" will go.  That's a lot of snow to melt.  What you say?  It's not even 2 feet?  Well lets look out front shall we?
That's the stubby legged coginator in front of the snowbank.  DH offered to take a pic of me in front of this bank.  I had not yet showered and was still in PJ's,fuzzy slippers, & bathrobe, so in the interest of everyone's eyes, I declined.  LOL!  BTW- For perspective, Cad stands 10 inches in the middle and 20 inches when you count his head.
One last view of the back yard.  For all  my recent whining, it is pretty.  Rumor has it that there is yet another storm coming next week.  That will make 8 storms in like 6 weeks or something and more than 45 inches of snow total.  Huh.  That's a lotta white stuff.

I like snow, but I'm still saying uncle! :)

Whoops!

Hi Folks, boy did I oops!  I thought I had this post all set to go for early this morning, but I guess not..
It's Top Tip Tuesday and we're looking for folks who want to make something with flowers.  Easy- peasy!

Leanne put together a fabulous tutorial on how to make these flowers from hearts.  Make sure to check it out! :)
Since the theme this week is Fabulous Flowers and Leanne made flowers from hearts, I thought I'd make a card with "heart" flowers. hee-hee
The stamp is a wicked old SU! stamp I had borrowed from a friend and the rest is mostly scraps 'n leftovers.  Still working my way through it all!
Still working on my Copic technique.  I think I'm getting the hang of it, but gosh I'd love to be able to go to a certification class.  If only one would come to Boston, Worcester, Albany, Portland, someplace I can get to in a car from here....  Well, a gal can dream. :)

Enter your own flowery project or wicked awesome tip at TTT!  The goodies up for grabs are listed below.

Corgi Eye View and a Golfer

So before I show you the guy card I mentioned (last Friday) I thought I'd say THANKS to all the folks who voted for me at Lamb Around 'cause I WON!!!!!!  Yippee!!!!
I have to say that the competition was fierce 'cause the other folks are so uber talented!  I hope you all take a sec to check all of them out. :)
Before I get to the guy card, I wanted to show you the corgi's eye view of the great outdoors here in New England.  He's been less than thrilled to venture out lately and really can you blame him?!?   Poor guy.  I haven't the heart to tell him more snow is expected this week.  I know I said I like snow, but this is the entire snowfall for the average winter in New England and it's only January.  Spring floods are for sure in our future.  Not good folks.  Not good.
Another couple scraps cards.  Again, these images were stamped, colored, and mounted LAST SPRING!!!!  Seriously projects are really getting unearthed with this mission of mine. :)  The image and sentiment are from Amuse.
I borrowed the image from my friend Lynn 'cause I don't have many guy type images.  I may need to borrow this one again to make some Father's Day cards.  I know it sounds early, but Operation Write Home is looking for some and they have an early deadline to get the cards overseas in time.

Make sure to stop by on Tuesday for our latest Top Tip Tuesday challenge (hint hint- the cards in  Fridays post would be eligible)

See you soon!

We interrupt this snowstorm...

To bring you something pretty in the midst of yet another New England blizzard....
Some pretties!!!  These are some more from the "where projects go to die" pile.  I colored these Lockhart flowers this summer.  My apologies that I haven't the list of which Copics I used. :(  Yup it's officially cold enough that my nails have turned blue. hee-hee.

You can never have enough thank you cards and to give the card a little "umph" I used the sentiment to stamp a pattern on the card base and then layered the patterned paper on top.
The total finished product is 3.5 X 3.5.  It so tiny and so stinkin' cute!!
Another point of view. :)  This one is 4X4 and still stinkin' cute at this size. :)
Maybe I'll see these colors again outside when the snow melts at some point in 2020!!!!  Did you notice that I've managed to make 2 more CAS cards?  I'm on a roll!  I may have gotten the hang of these CAS cards, but I think I can only do it if the cards are small.  The amount of empty space on bigger cards still freaks me out a little.

I hoping to have a guy card for y'all tomorrow, hope you can come by then.  In the meantime I return you to the regularly scheduled snowstorm, already in progress. (only 6 inches predicted this time)

I've carried these bouquets over to the hostesses here:
colourQ- #68 (Cherry, Poppy, Saffron, Artichoke & White- the first card)
Stamping 411- Colors (the first card again)
Claudia & Co.- Colors (the first card again)

Thankful for Green

Hi Folks!  Well they are predicting another 6-12 inches tonight and into tomorrow.  I like snow, but this is ridiculous even by my standards!  Well, time to think warmer thoughts...
Would you believe I made these trees A YEAR AGO!!!!!!  I actually used some of the other ones I made, but a couple got left behind until now. :)  I also had assembled the bases for about 6 easel cards LAST FALL.  Can you say failure to follow through.? LOL!
Well my laziness patience to create just the right card *wink* paid off don't ya think?  I'm excited to have made another card that, for me at least, is a CAS card.  I can't wait to show you the cards I made for tomorrow.....

For now I am "leafing" to "tree" what folks think of this card here:

Star Date 1.19.11

Things were a little rough yesterday and I wasn't able to get pic's done of the cards I have made from my self imposed challenge.  Keep the faith folks, I will have new cards to post tomorrow, Friday, and probably this weekend too! :)
This is what greeted me as I left school yesterday, needless to say I was wet, cold, and tired when I finally got home.  Nothing a good evening spent in my studio couldn't cure though. ;)

Two shout outs:
Come Join us at Top Tip Tuesday- Use a sentiment on the front of a card

Dragonfly sympathy

This dragonfly is one of my favorites because it's so lovely and easy to color.  Clean and simple is tricky for me, but I've been practicing.  It's all about the layering for me on this one.  I think that helped me step away from the bling and flowers. :)
These are the Copics I used to color this Magenta stamp.  I actually remembered to post this for a change. :)

Hope this first project from the mini stash was inspiring.

Don't forget to stop by Top Tip Tuesday for this week's tip and challenge.  Carol is hosting a great tut on word shape books!  There are prizes from TTT and from Carol!!!!   Use a sentiment, make a work shape book, or leave a tip and you could win a prize from these cool sponsors...

I'm fluttering over to these places to link up my dragonfly cards:

Star Date 1.18.11

The Craft Room... the Final Frontier. These are the escapades of the starship Fuzzy Slippers. Its continuing mission: to explore the strange concept of completed projects, to seek out new supplies and new blog inspiration, to boldly go where I have never gone before - a clean craft area!

Seriously, my mission this week is to see how many things I can make from this:
And this too....
I cleaned my studio, I mean cleaned for me anyway.  The studio is the place projects have gone to die lately.  I have a ton of supplies here and half made projects that I can't remember what they were!!!  So I'm going to see what I can make from what I have in these piles.
At least I have a bunch of colored images to work with on this.  Time spent this summer coloring may pay off. LOL!  Hope you enjoy my weeks challenge.  I'm shuffling off to the salt mine studio to see what I can cobble together.  Stay Tuned. :)

Ooo-ooo, while you are waiting- would you pretty please vote for me over at Lamb Around??? I am so honored that Fuzzy Slippers has been nominated for Best in Show *blush* and now it's up to the viewers to vote for me.  As they say in Hollywood, "it's an honor to be nominated", but gosh it'd be pretty cool if I got some votes too. :)

Snow Day Special

In case you hadn't heard, New England is under about 30+ inches of frozen white precipitation.  I LOVE SNOW!!!!!  Not sure why.  I don't ski, skate, or snowshoe.  It's just magical to watch snow blanket things.  Then there's the way that the world stops speeding at full tilt when it snows.  People slow down.  Folks that are usually strangers help each other shovel and push cars that are stuck.  It's really nice.

To celebrate my love of snow, I got a head start on my Christmas cards.  Yup, I am that kooky that I'm already starting my cards.

I put on my snow pants and pulled my sled over to these playgrounds:

It's a Squall this time

If you came via Top Tip Tuesday, Welcome!  Glad to have you stop by.  Feel free to browse around and let me know what you think. ;)
There was a flurry of thanks last week and now it's developed into a squall! :)
If you've been here before you know when I get on a roll I tend to bang out a bunch of cards.
Carpe the crea-tiv-i-tay!
Once I got done with the big snowflake cards I had made some nice progress, but I also knew I needed more thank you cards so I kept going while the mojo was flowing. :)
I used the same kraft card base stamped with snowflakes and the rest of the paper scraps left over from this years gingerbread card and then went to town using other scraps from past projects.  What can I say, I'm actually kinda lazy creative and didn't want to have to put any of the scraps away. LOL!
Using the same (sorta) template, all the cards have an Amuse snowflake stamped on a punched cardstock and layered.  They all have ribbon tied on the side (this ribbon was from a gift package I got- "free" ribbon is the best!).
I went over the snowflake with a glitter pen and copic T-1 to give it a little umph.  Glitter is AWESOME in any format. :)

Here's a couple cards where I didn't have enough of the scraps to make the cards identical, but I had enough "stuff" to make them fun.  It's so easy to get lost playing with all the pieces until that "eureka" moment, not that I know anything about getting lost in my studio. *wink*

Last one!  I can't believe you stayed with me through all this!  How 'bout one last pic?  A group shot maybe?
Thanks to all of you wonderful folks who dropped by today.  Please let me know what you think of this little "snowstorm" or if you have any questions about what I used.  Don't forget to enter your creation at TTT!

I've tunneled through the snow to party here:
